Industrial bending with high precision

Bending is a fundamental fabrication method in industry, where sheet metal is formed into finished components through controlled bending. To achieve the correct function, fit and strength, both powerful equipment and a high level of expertise are required. In construction, manufacturing and heavy-duty applications, particularly high demands are placed on accuracy and repeatability.

At Bergs Mekaniska, we carry out bending of both thin sheet metal parts and very heavy components. The work is always based on the customer’s drawings and technical requirements, with a focus on delivering components that work directly in the next stage of production.

What does bending involve?

In bending, sheet metal is formed in a press brake, where the material is bent to a specified angle and radius. The method is used to produce components that will be assembled, welded or incorporated into larger structures. Correctly carried out bending reduces the need for further adjustment and ensures that the finished component maintains the correct dimensions over time.

Bending is often used in combination with cutting and welding, where precision at every stage is crucial to the final result.

When is bending used?

Bending is the right choice when components require an exact shape and a stable structure, for example in:

  • sheet metal parts for construction and structural applications

  • industrial components with requirements for fit and strength

Machinery and capacity

To handle both precision and force, we work with a machine park designed for industrial bending. Our capacity includes:

  • two Ursviken press brakes with a press force of up to 640 tonnes

  • one Ursviken press brake rated at 150 tonnes for small and medium-sized components

This combination makes it possible to bend long, thick and heavy sheet metal plates with consistent quality and high repeatability.
